PBA Free Agency: Top 5 available head coach targets!

Other than the farm team trades, the other thing that is really cringe-worthy in the PBA is the patience of several teams with their coaches that are clearly not suited for them squads.

Your franchise is consistent in being one of the five worst teams and you are happy keeping your coach in town? That is not the right thinking for teams who really desire to win championships.

The problem with that is, less opportunities for coaches who deserve a shot to be a head coach in the PBA!

Here are my top 5 coaches that should be the next head coach!

#5 Bonnie Tan
Coach Bonnie is in a very interesting position. He is the general manager of Northport Batang Pier but also the successful head coach of the Letran Knights. He spearheaded the back-to-back crowns of Letran. Of course, PBA is a level higher than NCAA. If he is well-connected to Mr. Al Chua, I think it is just a matter of time before he gets his chance.

#4 Charles Tiu
I am a fan of successful young minds like coach Charles. He is currently the head coach of College of Saint Benilde and an assistant in the Meralco Bolts. With what I have seen, he deploys a modern brand of system that deserves a shot in the PBA.

#3 Richard Del Rosario
This is more about my curiosity about how good coach Tim Cone is, in developing his young deputies. Coach Richard is now his main deputy. He was even given the chance to coach Ginebra when coach Tim was away. I hope the PBA can give him a shot soon and let us see if he learns something from coach Tim.

#2 Lougi Trillo
The success of Meralco this Philippine Cup when he was in-charge is the clearest evidence that coach Luigi should be given another shot. His way of rotating and maximizing players is pristine. System wise, he already proved in the past that he has a championship-caliber scheme.

#1 Alex Compton
Alaska Aces was the last independent team that managed to go toe-to-toe with the squads of SMC and MVP. It was during the time of coach Alex. I am quite shocked that he has not gotten any gig up to this point. I hope he is still interested in coaching and that the PBA will soon give him another chance.
