Coach Aldin Ayo named his dream five in the PBA. For his frontcourt, he went with Junemar Fajardo and Japeth Aguilar. For his small forward, it is between Jeron Teng and Bong Quinto. And for his backcourt, he named Chris Newsome and Mark Barroca.
Of course, the chances that he will get Fajardo or Aguilar is next to zero. But for Barroca, I think there is a chance if they can make the right offer.
The Meralco players, Newsome and Quinto, are also intriguing targets but knowing that both are still in their prime, it is hard to see Meralco giving them up.
So, what are the two offers that Converge can make?
Abu Tratter and a 2nd round pick for Mark Barroca
The logic here is that Converge is offer an in-prime center and a 2nd round pick for a veteran starting point guard. We all know that centers are more important than guard. So, an in-prime center should have a good enough value for a top 30 player like Barroca.
Jeo Ambohot, RK Ilagan and 2nd round pick for Mark Barroca
If Magnolia wants a younger players, then Ambohot and Ilagan could be an interesting package. Ambohot is a willing three-point shooter and that will bode well with the inside game of Sangalang. Ilagan is fantastic outside shooter and Magnolia need that.
Overall, I think both teams should explore a trade because a Barroca-led Mayhem defense will be something to look forward too. While Magnolia is badly in need of a roster shake up.
