PBA Trade Rumors: Ginebra and Northport is planning another "farm team" trade?

I am a big fan of the PBA. I support it through my consistent write-ups about the league and the other related topics to it.

I do not want to see it suffering my decreasing attendance, viewership and power in the Philippine basketball landscape. Unfortunately, my love for the PBA is always challenged everytime a farm team trade happens.

So, hearing the newest trade rumor is disheartening. According to a Facebook page, Ginebra and Northport could be making a trade of Jamie Malonzo for Prince Caperal, Aljon Mariano and a 2nd round pick.

Value-wise, that is so absurd that we should not believe it. Unfortunately, the Stanley Pringle happened so this one-sided trade can also push through.

Both Mariano and Caperal failed to average more than 15 minutes per game this Philippine Cup. And if you check their numbers, they are bad.

Caperal committed foolish fouls in the playoffs while Mariano just gave up his spot to Arvin Tolentino. So, these are guys who are currently not that valuable for Ginebra.

The package presented can only cover around 1/3 of the value of Malonzo.

How valuable is Malonzo?

He is easily a top 25 player right now and he has the highest potential out of all under-27 years old in the league.

He is the future of the PBA. I hope the PBA office will realize how damaging this farm team transactions to the league.
