PBA Controversy: Is Japan B League hurting our Gilas Pilipinas?

A big group from the PBA, led by the commissioner, went to Japan and meet with the management of Japan B League.

They went there hopeful that Japan B League can also think about the health of their farm league, the PBA. Sorry. I mean, the oldest professional basketball league in Asia.

Now, the group went there, emphasizing the negative effect to the league. Commissioner Marcial even said that the league may die because of the departure of Filipino players to better leagues.

One mind-boggling claim though by the PBA management and SBP is that Japan B League is also hurting the preparation of our national team.

Think about it. Japan is a rival in International game. Should we really blame them if they find a way to hurt the preparation of the national team of the Philippines?

But the reality is, it is not what facts are telling us. Here is the analysis of Mr. Enjo Flojo ( @hoopnut ) of the playing time of the players in the last six games of Gilas.

Japan B League is actually helpful in our preparation. They are so helpful that the players from there side are getting bigger roles in the program, primarily because the PBA players are actually less available.

Numbers do not lie. People do. They are trying to fix something that is not a problem. Instead of facing the real thing that started the downfall of the league.

Stop the farm teams.
