PBA Trade Analysis: Blackwater lose the Oftana trade, big time?

The biggest mistake of Blackwater was not trading Brandon Ganuelas-Rosser. It is letting go of Calvin Oftana for Troy Rosario.

But if we take that part out, we are down to a trade of Troy Rosario and Gab Banal for Brandon. Is that a bad trade?

Trading the #1 pick of a draft for Troy and Gab is not a good trade. Trading Brandon though the player for Troy and Gab is not that bad.

Brandon just had a forgettable rookie debut tournament. The glimpses are interesting and he looks big.

There is a good chance that Brandon will still be a better player than Troy but their age difference is just two years.

The trade improves Blackwater today and in the near future. The way that Blackwater clearly loses this trade is if Brandon turns out to be superstar with a career better than Troy.

But right now, a core of Yousef Taha, Ato Ular, Troy Rosario, Gab Banal, Jvee Casio, Rey Suerte, Rashawn McCarthy and Baser Amer is very interesting.

I saw enough to believe that Banal can be a consistent top 5 three-point shooter in the league. He just need opportunity.

I am also excited to see Troy more with additional chances and bigger offensive responsibility.
