PBA Trade Controversy: TNT-NLEX-Blackwater trade should be rejected, right?

The trade that shocked the entire PBA universe this month happened in the middle of this week. We have not heard the approval from the PBA trade committee.

So the trade that will send Calvin Oftana and Raul Soyud to TNT, Troy Rosario and Gab Banal to Blackwater and Brandon Ganuelaa-Rosser and Paul Desiderio to NLEX is still hanging on the balance.

According to some insiders and reports, some teams are not in favor of it pushing through. One Facebook page pointed to the independent teams as the ones who are standing their ground.

One of their grounds, according to rumors is it's fairness.

I agree that the trade is not fair and deserving to be vetoed because of it. But, the league will look like a fool and a bigger joke if this trade is rejected because it is not fair.

Why?

Because they approved way more lopsided trade in the past. You will reject that but you just approved the trade of the #2 pick for #8 and #13! You even approved the trade of a Stanley Pringle for three bench players.

If they used unfairness as their reason for rejecting it. That will be an additional evidence that the PBA is really now the PaLiga ni Boss A..

The other reason that they want it to be rejected is the supposed rule that the number 1 pick is not allowed to be traded.

But according to a report, there is no timeframe written in the policy of the PBA. So, the moment the player is drafted, they can actually trade it.

What they only have again is gentlemen's agreement. Which is of course laughable because majority of the people in the PBA board are professionals who should be aware of the importance of putting it into the rule book.

I hope the committee rejects it and improve the rule about trading the #1 pick.
