San Miguel Beermen and TNT Tropang Giga were our finalists in the most recent PBA Philippine Cup but both teams are in danger of being eliminated.
That is actually a good thing overall because we will see new teams in the playoffs. Actually, a lot of fans are already eager to see a finals with at least one team that is not part of the SMC or MVP group.
Now, TNT is not only in a worse situation than San Miguel in the standings. Even their import situation is bad because Cameron Oliver is already injured with his leg.
TNT will bring a veteran import in Matt Mobley. Unlike Cameron Oliver, he is not an NBA veteran. And the reality is, he was only chosen because he was the most available.
Mobley is a trigger-happy type of guard. Which is actually very interesting because TNT already have a local player in Mikey Williams who has the license to shoot as many shots as possible.
Actually, they also have RR Pogoy who is having his best season ever in the PBA, specially in scoring the ball. So, is it really worth it to add a guard who needs the ball that much?
Also, their frontline is actually shallow compared to other elite teams. They will change their import to a wing. Their system will change.
So, overall, I am not a fan of this decision.
