PBA Analysis: Can San Miguel complete another Beeracle?

Remember the craziest comeback in the history of Philippine basketball? I am talking about the 2015 Philippine Cup Finals between the San Miguel Beermen and the Alaska Aces.

San Miguel managed to accomplish the unthinkable and came back from a 0-3 deficit. In short, they won four straight.

That is easily the biggest series win of the legendary death 5 of the San Miguel. Now, when Chris Ross was asked about their 0-2 deficit against Bay Area, he reminded people with the Beeracle.

Can they do it against Bay Area?

Do not bet on it. One of the biggest difference between the two situation is the reality that San Miguel has a big advantage in terms of talent against Alaska during that 2015 finals.

The situation is reverse in this one. Bay Area has a clear advantage in terms of talent. It did not help the cause of San Miguel that they ended up relying on an average import, Devon Scott.

But two of the games in the series also tell us that San Miguel managed to keep it close with Bay Area. The first game was a toss-up but won in the dying seconds by the Dragons.

Also, we can expect that the chemistry of San Miguel will just keep getting better as the series go further. Their familiarity with Bay Area will also improve.

I will not bet on it but I can see it happening. Specially if Junemar Fajardo remains to be effective in his scoring in the paint.
