PBA Controversy: San Miguel has a golden opportunity to fire coach Leo Austria?

I respect the coach Leo Austria. I am not a fan of his method in wining championships but the results are there. He has 9 PBA championships, five are All Filipino crowns, and four Coach of the Year citations. It is basically a profile of a worthy contender as the greatest PBA coach ever?

Of course, coach Leo is not even seen as a candidate for such distinction. Specially with the reality that in almost the entirety of his run as coach of San Miguel, he has the most powerful line-up and it is even centered around the most unstoppable force in the league in The Kraken, Junemar Fajardo.

What was disappointing though was the inability of coach Leo to lead his team to a grandslam. The talent level of the roster that he led year-by-year was on the level of a worthy grandslam conqueror.

After defeating TNT in the Philippine Cup, they are again in the right start for a potential run of winning all the championships in a single season.

That ended abruptly by Bay Area Dragon. A team that we can only agree to have more talent than that of San Miguel.

But in this failure of a tournament, something transpired that should spice things up. Coach Jorge Gallent took over and he did very well. He was so good as their head coach that a lot of fans wanted him to be proclaimed as the new head coach of the team!

That is the case even though they just succeeded in winning the Philippine Cup!

But that did not happen. Coach Leo returned in the semifinals and they got defeated by Bay Area. With the performance of coach Jorge, San Miguel may have their best chance of replacing coach Leo Austria.

Hearing the silence after more than a week of their defeat though, it seems like that will not happen San Miguel fans.
