PBA Import Highlights: San Miguel did not choose an NBA veteran for 2023 PBA Governors' Cup!

Do you still remember the times when San Miguel Beermen was addicted to getting the biggest of the biggest names available as their import?

They started with that in their 2022 PBA Commissioner's Cup run and in a way, it was a mistake. Diamond Stone was very inefficient.

Now, they may have changed their ways all of a sudden as they kept Devon Scott as their import even though he was not a monster of an import.

Now for the upcoming 2023 PBA Governors' Cup, they are again going for the unknown names and a young player in Marcus Weathers. It seems like they trust their scouting so much that they brought him early into the country.

Looking at the number of Marcus, I did not see anything special. In his most recent stint, which is his last year in the NCAA, he averaged 12,8 points, 51% FG, 7.5 rebounds, 1.8 assists, 0.5 steal and 0.6 block per game.

Looking at his highlights, he has this excellent acceleration and flashy athleticism to finish through traffic. He is more of a midrange operator.

Unfortunately, he is not that good in terms of finding his teammates and his three-point shooting is not a weapon. Those two alone makes him a hard fit for the current roster of SMB.

I am not a big fan of this hiring.
