PBA Power Ranking: Top 10 Contenders of the 2023 Governors' Cup!

Believe it or not but the 2023 PBA Governors' Cup is just less than a week from starting! So, here are our top 10 contenders for the title!

#10 Phoenix

Phoenix will enter this tournament with a brand new head coach Jamike Jarin. He handled the defense of Phoenix in the past and with what we saw, I am actually excited to see him as the main guy. There is a good chance that Phoenix will improve under coach Jamike.

#9 Northport

Northport has a better roster for this upcoming Governors' Cup. with the addition of Joshua Munzon. I think, there is a little bit of a chance that Munzon did not show his 100% game under Terrafirma.

#8 Rain or Shine

I think Michael Qualls is a very good decision for Rain or Shine as their reinforcement. With one conference under coach Yeng, we should expect better from this young squad.

#7 Converge

Their trades this year did not improve the quality of their roster. I am also not a fan of their import choice. From an NBA veteran to a New Zealand player is a big risk for Converge to take.

#6 TNT

With the preparation of Gilas and with an underwhelming import choice, I do not think the management of TNT is focused on the upcoming tournament. Nevertheless, they will have a new coach. Maybe, they found someone special.

#5 NLEX

NLEX will bring the biggest name import in this upcoming tournament. Jonathon Simmons played a lot of games in the NBA and he has this level of athleticism that can make him a monster in the PBA.

#4 Magnolia

Their import choice for this Governors' Cup is very ideal. We are still waiting for a big trade that will improve the talent level of their squad. Without it, it is hard for me to trust them.

#3 Meralco

KJ McDaniels is a proven import in the PBA. He almost carried NLEX to the Finals last year. With Meralco having a better roster, the potential reward can be bigger.

#2 San Miguel

I am pretty sure that the management of San Miguel is again furious after failing to accomplish again a Grandslam. We should not expect Fajardo to be fully healthy and that could again be a factor for the Beermen.

#1 Barangay Ginebra

As long as Brownlee is still the Best Import in the PBA, Ginebra should be the favorite. With Christian Standhardinger getting better at his role and Jamie Malonzo improving, Ginebra is a scary team of the future.
