PBA Trade Analysis: TNT-NLEX-Phoenix trade of veterans!

Not all discussions are heard by the insiders of Snow Badua, Homer Sayson and other insiders of the Philippine Basketball Association.

One of those trades is the sudden reported TNT-NLEX-Phoenix which includes six players. It is not yet approved by the PBA but we should already talk about it.

The current reported trade is:
TNT receive Justin Chua and Paul Varilla
NLEX receive Sean Anthony and Jake Pascual
Phoenix receive Raul Soyud, JJay Alejandro and two 2nd round picks

I think, the biggest issue of the fans when they first heard the trade was Phoenix. In terms of usage, Soyud and Alejandro will not be equal to the value of the other duos. But, Phoenix will also receive two 2nd round picks, balancing the trade.

TNT
Receive: Justin Chua and Paul Varilla
Send: Raul Soyud, JJay Alejandro, 2nd round pick

TNT did this trade to upgrade their frontline rotation. In terms of current production, Chua is an improvement over Soyud. But in terms of analyzing the current skill level of the two players, I do not think that the difference is that material.

It seems like coach Frankie Lim is also doing his own version of the Ayo-trading. He wants his college guys to be with him. Pascual was his bigman in San Beda and I think he is still a useful bigman in the PBA. Of course, Anthony is the biggest name in here and adding such talent will surely help NLEX. The issue is, can Sean stay healthy?

Phoenix
Receive: Raul Soyud, JJay Alejandro, Two 2nd round pick
Send: Sean Anthony and Jake Pascual

In this trade, I actually like it the most for Phoenix. With the way PBA drafts in the past has fallen, 2nd round picks can be turn into diamonds by the franchises who are excellent in scouting. And Phoenix is one of those. And, I actually think that Soyud and Alejandro are underrated bench players that Phoenix could rejuvenate and even push into a much higher level.
