We heard a lot of trade rumors in the past few weeks but the last tournament of the 2022-2023 season started without a big move by the San Miguel Corporation squads.
Converge was the one who made the most moves. Are they done already?
Even if the trades are already over. There is a good chance that the discussions are still ongoing and Converge is already part of another trade rumor.
The current rumor is a swap between Meralco Bolts and Converge. Bong Quinto, the ace player of coach Aldin Ayo in Letran, for Jeo Ambohot, another alumni of Letran.
Majority of the Meralco fans were not happy when they heard the rumor. Quinto is recognized as one of the main guys of Meralco. He is currently averaging 10.3 points, 49% FG, 36% 3FG, 3.4 rebounds and 2.6 assists per game this season.
He is easy to love as a player because he works hard on both ends of the court. But, I do not think that a straight swap is as bad as the Meralco fans are looking at it.
Yes, Ambohot has failed to show glimpses of his high potential but he is still a bigman who is already taking three-pointers. I think his high potential is still achievable and enough reason for Meralco to consider this trade.
