Snow Badua is the most reliable PBA insider in this era of the Internet. So, it was not shocking that his recent video detailing the current discussions happening made a big explosion in the discussions of fans.
In his most recent video, he presented us with interesting trade discussions. For me, this one was the most interesting.
Northport will get Paul Lee
NLEX will get Joshua Munzon and Javi Gomez de Liano
Magnolia will get Don Trollano
Three teams deal in the PBA is always a combination of two trades. The two trades in this one are:
NLEX-Northport: Don Trollano for Joshua Munzon and Javi Gomez de Liano
Magnolia-Northport: Don Trollano for Paul Lee
The Don Trallano for Paul Lee exchange for me is a fine one. Lee has name recognition and he peaked as a top 10 player in the league. Currently, Don is the better overall player but the trade value of a player is not only their current production. So, if we include the other minor factors, this is a fine exchange.
The more complicated exchange is the Trollano for Munzon and Javi. Trollano is clearly a top-20 player this season. He is currently averaging 16.8 points, 45% FG, 45% 3FG, 5.7 rebounds and 2.2 assists per game.
Munzon is a player that has the potential to be a top 10 player but his realistic peak years can be a ton 40 to 60 players. I think Munzon can cover 60% of Trollano's trade value. On the other, Javi is still a rookie with good enough potential that he can cover 25% of Don's trade value.
That will leave a 15% difference. Knowing that NLEX is on the other side of the fence, implies that NLEX lost in this trade.
The winner will be Northport because they will turn Kevin Ferrer, MJ Ayaay and the two 2nd round picks into a Paul Lee.
