2023 PBA Awards: Our Most Valuable Player!

There is no doubt that the 2023 season will end up as one of the most entertaining one. People may have forgotten but the triumph of the San Miguel Beermen in the Philippine Cup was not that easy.

We of course saw how Barangay Ginebra defended the pride of Philippine basketball by defeating Bay Area Dragons.

Lastly, we saw how the TNT Tropang Giga ended the season with an emphatic victory against the dominant Governors' Cup defending champ, Ginebra.

So, in our final MVP ranking, all teams were represented.

2nd Runner-up: Mikey Williams
His numbers for this season were down compared to last season Nevertheless, he still was clearly the best local player of TNT in their title conquest.

He produced 18.4 points, 40% FG, 37% 3FG, 3.9 rebounds, and 4.1 assists per game. His offense is just on another level. I think, when he is on the zone, he is the most unstoppable scorer in the league. He bends defenses like no other.

1st Runner-up: Christian Standhardinger
I have been waiting for fans to recognize that Christian can be the challenger to the throne of June Mar Fajardo. Standhardinger averaged 15.3 points, 56% FG, 8.7 rebounds, 4.0 assists and 2.6 turnovers per game.

It is actually mesmerizing to watch him run the offense of Ginebra. I actually think that he could have been the MVP if Ginebra won against TNT in the Governors' Cup.

2023 MVP: June Mar Fajardo
It is easy to forget about the San Miguel Beermen Philippine Cup win because of the two tournaments that happened after it.

Nevertheless, Fajardo was still the main guy in that run. His overall level of impact is down but man, San Miguel still live and die with him. One number that can easily shows how dominant he is is his Per 100 Possession Net Rating. He has 22.1 Net Rating. How high is that? Standhardinger, who is the more skilled player is at 4.2!
