PBA Controversy: Blackwater is NOT a Farm team anymore?

Jeff Cariaso has been appointed as the new head coach of the struggling franchise Blackwater Bossing after their 1-10 finish in the 2023 Governors’ Cup. Cariaso is an accomplished basketball player who has also coached the Barangay Ginebra San Miguel, Alaska Aces, and Converge FiberXers. He recently signed a three-year contract with the Bossing, bringing hope to the team.

On Noli Eala’s sports program Power and Play, Cariaso expressed his excitement over the Bossing’s current roster, including its veteran players and promising young talents. He spoke of Baser Amer, Troy Rosario, Mike DiGregorio, Yousef Taha, RK Ilagan, and Tyrus Hill, among others. Cariaso is eager to see what these players can do and believes they have what it takes to take the team to the next level.

Cariaso’s vision for the Bossing’s future is bright. He is enthusiastic about coaching the team’s top players and their most promising talents. He believes that with his guidance, the team can reach new heights. Cariaso’s three-year contract with the Bossing gives him the freedom to create the team he wants, and management has given him a free rein.

The Bossing’s new core will begin with this year’s No. 2 draft pick, which Cariaso plans to use to land a franchise player. He is determined to turn things around for the team and bring a winning culture to the franchise. With his wealth of experience and the talented roster at his disposal, Cariaso is poised to make a significant impact on the Bossing’s future.

Cariaso’s arrival signals a new era for the Bossing, and the team’s players and fans alike can look forward to exciting times ahead. Despite their recent struggles, the Bossing’s new leader is enthusiastic about the team’s future and believes that they have what it takes to be successful. With Cariaso at the helm, the Bossing is poised for greatness.

Unfortunately, we have heard this promising rhetoric before. Coach Ariel Vanguardia also took the head coaching job with Blackwater with a lot of promised.

And almost everything was not fulfilled.

But deep inside me, I am hoping that they can build around that #2 pick. Either that will be Sedrick Barefield, Kobe Paras, Luis Villegas or Deschon Winston.
