Kai Sotto Highlights: Utah Jazz wants Kai?

The dream of witnessing the first full-blooded Filipino player in the NBA is edging closer to reality, as Kai Sotto takes a significant step forward in his basketball journey. In an exclusive interview, Tony Ronzone of Wasserman Sports, a powerhouse agency, revealed that Sotto will participate in the Utah Jazz NBA mini-camp on May 30 and 31. This opportunity will place Sotto alongside former and current NBA players, as well as European stars, making him the first full-blooded Filipino to be part of such an elite level of organized basketball.

According to Ronzone, Sotto has already begun training in Los Angeles and will depart for Utah on the 29th. The Utah Jazz, currently in a rebuilding phase following the Donovan Mitchell era, missed the playoffs. This presents an exciting chance for Sotto, as he could potentially fill a void left by Fil-American guard Jordan Clarkson, who is now a free agent after starting for the team last season.

Sotto's recent stint in the Japan B.League with the Hiroshima Dragonflies showcased his skills and helped lead the team to their first-ever playoffs appearance. In 19 games, Sotto averaged 8.9 points, 6.1 rebounds, and 1.4 assists. With Wasserman Sports guiding his aspirations, the NBA doors are gradually opening for the talented 21-year-old, who previously played for the Ateneo Blue Eaglets.

Tony Ronzone, who oversees Sotto's progress, brings valuable expertise to the table. As the former director of player personnel for the Dallas Mavericks, he was instrumental in scouting and acquiring the draft rights of Luka Doncic, a significant acquisition for the team in 2019. Ronzone's involvement further underscores the potential and promising future that lies ahead for Sotto as he pursues his NBA dreams.

With this move, I think this will be a big step towards the fulfillment of the dream of Kai Sotto.
