PBA Free Agency: San Miguel or MVP group, which side will win Maverick Ahanmisi?

Despite ongoing negotiations between Maverick Ahanmisi and Converge management, it appears that an agreement for a new deal is unlikely. Ahanmisi's previous one-year contract with the FiberXers is set to expire by Tuesday (June 6) unless a last-minute breakthrough occurs.

In the event of no agreement, Ahanmisi, the former No. 3 overall pick from the Class of 2015, will become an unrestricted free agent, granting him the freedom to choose his next team without any restrictions from his current club.

The impasse in negotiations arose due to a disagreement over the value and duration of the contract. Sources suggest that the FiberXers offered a short-term deal, while the Ahanmisi camp sought a longer commitment.

Both parties have not returned to the negotiation table since Monday, and reports indicate that Converge management has retracted their initial offer.

Last season, Ahanmisi joined the FiberXers as a late signee, joining the team a few days into Season 47 after agreeing to a one-year contract. Throughout the season, he established himself as one of the key players for the FiberXers, leading the team in scoring during the season-ending Governors' Cup. As a result, Ahanmisi has become a highly sought-after name in this off-season's free agency market.

According to Homer Sayson, MVP group and the SMC sister squads has made an offer. The question now is, which side should Maverick choose?

Looking at the current roster of each team, I actually think that the MVP group is the better choice if money is equal.

Unless Maverick values the amount of fans that he can have.
