PBA Free Agency: San Miguel added a bigman!

Noy Baclao's return to San Miguel has been confirmed, as coach Jorge Gallent stated that the veteran forward will be part of the Beermen's rotation in PBA Season 48. Baclao played significant minutes for the team during the preseason, solidifying his spot on the roster. Gallent expressed confidence in Baclao's signing, emphasizing that there are no issues regarding his inclusion in the team.

This marks Baclao's second stint with the San Miguel franchise, where he previously played for one season and won a championship in the 2011 Governors' Cup when the team was still known as Petron. Gallent already identified Baclao as one of the four regular players, along with Allyn Bulanadi, Jericho Cruz, and Rodney Brondial, who shouldered the majority of the load in the preseason.

After being released by Meralco at the end of the season, Baclao joined San Miguel during the PBA On Tour. The opportunity served as a tryout for the 6-foot-5 Bacolod native, as concerns about his health condition were raised. However, Baclao's solid performance convinced the Beermen that he could be a valuable backup option in the center position for the upcoming season, commencing in October. Baclao has previously played for Air21, TNT, Northport, and Alaska in his PBA career.

So, San Miguel chose Baclao over Robbie Herndon. That is actually an absurd decision because Robbie brings what they need in a position that they lack.
