PBA Power Ranking: Top 5 PGs that could DECLINE in the upcoming season!

As we continue to wait for the 2023-2024 season of the oldest professional basketball league in Asia, here is another series of articles!

It is easy to put our focus on positive things but it is also a good thing to look at the negative side. Here are the top 5 Point guards that could regressed in terms of their statline in the upcoming season!

#5. Aljun Melecio
It was not shocking that coach Aldin Ayo trusted him right away and made him their main point guard. But I think he did not display enough to be confident that he can keep up his status in the point guard rotation.

#4. Mark Barroca
It is quite amazing that Barroca is still an elite player on both ends of the court last season. He averaged 12.0 points, 42% FG, 3.0 rebounds, 4.6 assists and 1.6 steals per game. Unfortunately, he is already 37 and I think those numbers will regressed in the upcoming season.

#3. JVee Casio
A guy that proved last season that he is still capable of being a starter. He produced 10.9 points, 39% FG, 38% 3FG, 1.9 rebounds and 2.9 assists per game. But knowing that he is not young and that there are younger point guards in the rotation, a decline in his numbers is a big possibility.

#2. Chris Ross
Actually, he already struggled last season. He still received a lot of minutes but knowing his age and the regression in his efficiency, his numbers could further go down.

#1. Jayson Castro
Another point guard that deserves admiration for maintaining an excellent statline. Castro though is already 37 years old and he heavily relies on his quickness. I expect his statline next season to be worse than his 22-23 line of 12.4 points, 46% FG, 37% 3FG, 3.5 rebounds and 3.9 assists per game.
