I started writing this at the middle of the fourth quarter of our game against Italy. It was a game that we needed to win by 13 points.
What happened was the most disastrous defensive performance by our team. It also gave us a first row seat to what modern basketball looks like.
Now, there are Filipinos out there who are putting a bad light to our criticism. Here is the reality though. This is sports. Criticisms can be defended. If you want to defend someone, then put up your defense.
Now that we all saw our defense and offense get shredded in different games, I invite anyone who still thinks that coach Chot Reyes is not deserving of the fingers that are pointed at him.
Remember that we are talking about the same guy that was at the helm last year when they made history in SEA games by winning the Silver medal, instead of the gold one!
That was the clearest sign of what was about to come. SBP did not listen.
And then I remember, coach Chot was not actually a big part of the decision to replace coach Tab. He is a prideful coach. But at the end of the day, the decision of changing the head coach was not made by coach Chot. It was the management of SBP.
Now, the ball is again at the hands of SBP.
Is coach Chot Reyes staying at his position for the 2023 Asian Games?
