2023 PBA Draft Analysis: 5 Biggest Winners!

Now that almost all the rookies that the teams saw worthy of being signed were already on the books, it is now the right time to talk about the biggest winners and losers!

Let us start with the positive ones. These are the people and teams who benefited a lot in terms of prestige or with a much better future due how the draft went.

.#5. Schonny Winston
Winston seems to be on a silent political turmoil with the two big conglomerates in the PBA. Going to the biggest independent team in the league is the dream scenario. Add the reality that Converge need his skillset and it is almost perfect.

#4. Fran Yu
I did not understand why Yu fell in the 4th round. What is clear though is that he is the point guard in the best situation. He is playing for his college coach. He is playing in a team that needs a point guard.

#3. Ateneo
If I am not mistaken, all of the players from Ateneo that reach the time of coach Tab was drafted. Actually, seven of them were drafted in the first three rounds. What makes this very interesting is the reality that the PBA hates coach Tab but they ironically love the product of his program.

#2. Rain or Shine
Rain or Shine failed to get a top 2 pick but they still ended up with one of the most perfect draft in the history of the league. Size is might in the PBA and they went 2/2 in their first two picks. Then, they turned a 2nd round pick into a future 1st.

#1. Fil-Foreigner players
11 of the 12 first round pick was Fil-Foreigner. Some fans did not love this but they fail to understand that the PBA teams are just getting wiser. It is quite funny when fans tried to justify drafting players that failed to even average more than 12 points in the MPBL over players who averaged more than 15 points in better leagues.
