PBA Controversy: TNT should PAY or TRADE Mikey Williams?

The second season of Mikey Williams with TNT should still be considered as a success. Ending the reign of Barangay Ginebra San Miguel is not an easy thing to do. We just saw how good Brownlee is in the Asian games.

Mikey is a big part of that. So, can we really blame Mikey if he continue to be vigilant about his contract? Yes. It is not a good look but TNT started winning crowns again upon his arrival.

Imagine if TNT never traded for Mikey. I am not 100% sure of course that they could have failed to win a single crown in the last two years but I am pretty sure that the chance is way smaller.

Now, should they pay the guy?

It is actually a complicated decision. Even with all of his issues, I believed San Miguel corporation is willing to give him a shot. Just like the shot that they gave to Terrence Romeo when his image eroded in his stint with TNT.

Trading him means they will get an abundant return that could be useful for their travail in going for a championship.

Paying him means continuity. But, that also includes the issues and struggles of haggling with him.

Overall though, paying him is the easier path. But with the image that he is putting up to the public, is it worth it?
