PBA Import Highlights: Meralco added a veteran of Israel league!

Meralco has announced the inclusion of Nigerian-American Suleiman Braimoh as their fresh import for the upcoming PBA Season 48, set to commence on November 5 with the Commissioner's Cup scheduled at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.

Standing at 6-foot-8, Braimoh has recently spent the past eight years playing primarily in Israel's professional league after his college tenure at Rice University.

Bolts' newly appointed coach Luis Trillo officially confirmed Braimoh's addition to the team as their new import, taking over the position previously held by Feron Hunt, who was released following Meralco's participation in the 2023 Doha International Basketball Tournament in Qatar last September. The team finished in the seventh spot out of eight competing teams.

Despite going undrafted in the NBA back in 2011, the 33-year-old has built a successful career overseas, showcasing his skills in various leagues across countries such as Qatar, Japan, New Zealand, Mexico, Germany, Russia, France, Israel, and Turkey.

Before his stint abroad, Braimoh notably played for the Rio Grand Valley Vipers in the NBA G League immediately following his college basketball journey. He later ventured into professional basketball in Qatar, Japan, and New Zealand.

During the 2019-20 season, Braimoh played a pivotal role for Hapoel Jerusalem, contributing an average of 12.2 points and 5.2 rebounds, ultimately aiding the team in clinching the Israeli League Cup championship. His remarkable performance also earned him the title of Tournament Most Valuable Player during that season.

Continuing his successful run, the following season saw Braimoh return to Hapoel Jerusalem, where he further boosted his statistics, recording an average of 17.1 points and 5.9 rebounds per contest.

I am not a fan of the decision of Meralco to sign an import that seems too contented to play as a role player.
