PBA Trade Rumors: SMB, Ginebra or Magnolia for Bolick?

Robert Bolick's recent departure from his lucrative professional tenure in Japan, driven by personal considerations regarding his pregnant wife, has opened up a range of potential paths for the talented basketball player's future. As confirmed by his agent Marvin Espiritu in a recent interview with the Inquirer, Bolick's options have broadened since the Fukushima Firebonds of the B.League second division granted his request to be released from his contract.

Potential avenues for Bolick could involve a continuation of his international career or, less likely, a potential comeback to the Philippine Basketball Association (PBA), where he previously flourished as a key player for NorthPort. Notably, Bolick's contract negotiations with NorthPort fell through in February, leading the PBA team to conclude the remainder of the Governors' Cup without their star player.

Now, knowing that they failed to come up with a contract in their last negotiation, there is a good chance that it is time for him to go to one of the SMC main teams.

Let us rank them according to fit.

#3. San Miguel
They just added a ball-heavy player in Jeron Teng. Bolick can play with ball heavy players but SMB has too much of them already. Adding him means the value of CJ Perez, Terrence Romeo, Simon Enciso and Jeron Teng will decrease because he will need the ball too.

#2. Ginebra
Looking at the guard and wing rotation of Ginebra, Bolick can still find a place. Scottie Thompson, Bolick and Ahanmisi will be a nice guard/wing rotation for the next five years with Jeremiah Gray developing and healing on the side.

#1. Magnolia
Magnolia may seems to have a more loaded guard and wing rotation but if we consider the age of the majority of them, the entry of Robert will be justified. He will bring the spacing that they still need.
