PBA Free Agency: Rain or Shine coach Yeng sign a future superstar?

Rain or Shine bolstered their frontline with a one-conference deal for Papot Paredes, a move necessitated by rookie Keith Datu's indefinite absence due to an MCL sprain.

Paredes, a 6-foot-6 big man out of La Salle, hasn't seen PBA action since September 2019. While he brings experience from prior stints with multiple teams, his extended hiatus raises questions about his current form and fit.

This signing feels like a short-term solution to an immediate problem. The focus might have been better served by exploring free agents with higher upside or established roles.

Kris Porter, for example, remains available and could potentially offer more impactful minutes. He is a modern bigman that coach Yeng loves.

Rain or Shine will need to squeeze immediate production out of Paredes to justify this move, especially considering their current 1-4 record.

He is more well-known for his defense but if coach Yeng Guiao can find a way to develop his offensive game, then maybe this is another great development project by Rain or Shine.
