PBA Trade Rumors: Phoenix superstar is on the TRADE BLOCK?

The mood around the Phoenix Fuel Masters is about as bright as a disco ball that's lost its shine.  Fresh off a Commissioner's Cup semis run, they're sputtering at 1-3 in the Philippine Cup.  And whispers are swirling around star forward Jason Perkins.

According to sources, Perkins is "unhappy" with his coach, Jamike Jarin, his playing time, and the team's overall performance.  Jarin, however, paints a different picture.  Perkins' limited minutes in a recent loss were due to "foul trouble," then later clarified as "knee swelling."  A team exec anonymously chimed in that Perkins' frustration was just the heat of the moment after a tough loss.

Hold on a sec.  Perkins is known as a good dude.  Public displays of discontent aren't exactly his calling card.  So, is this a minor blip, or a symptom of something larger?  Jarin insists it's the former, claiming a strong personal and professional relationship with Perkins.  Perkins, through his agent, echoes the sentiment.

Let's not forget the context here.  Phoenix is dealing with injuries, contract negotiations, and a brutal start.  Perkins himself is sidelined with a knee issue.  Maybe his happiness meter is just a little out of whack right now.

Here's the thing: for the sake of parity in the PBA, we hope Jarin's rosy outlook is closer to reality.  A disgruntled Perkins, especially one with a max contract extension, is a recipe for locker room drama.  And that's something the league, and Phoenix fans, don't need right now.
