The Hotshots overcome the odds to match the highest wins-total after the elimination round. They accomplished that even though their import in their first 8 games, Tony Mitchell, underwhelmed with his 21.3 points, 14.4 rebounds and 2.9 blocks production.Unfortunately, they met a much better and wiser TNT squad in the semifinals. Nonetheless, it was a successful season for the Star franchise.
So, who should they add to finally go over the humps in the next conference?
Jay-R Reyes
The Hotshots are on the up-swing. The core of their team is in their prime and still have rooms to grow. So, some small improvements should be enough. Just like, looking for a legit bigman who can really occupy space and rebound.
In his career, he averaged 11.0 rebounds per 36 minutes, per game. In the Com. Cup, their best local rebounder was Rafi Reavis with 5.6 rebounds. Reyes will be much better in scoring inside.
Aljon Mariano
Another small improvement that Star can make is to add a versatile big capable of playing both the forward position. You will not be impressed with Aljon if you only looked at his numbers. If you watched him play though, you will see a hardworking player, banging bodies to get the rebounds.
His time with coach Tim Cone also helped him develop his defensive skills which Star will surely used. Aljon can even make plays if tasked to do so.
Star could offer some of their young bench players for him.
