Rain or Shine continue to renew their roster after almost a decade of reserving chemistry and familiarity. They exchanged their sophomore guard, Mike Tolomia for another sophomore, Mark Daquioag.
The deal is of course fair. Both are sophomores and was not given enough opportunity by their former homes.
TEAM ANALYSIS
Meralco
Received Mike Tolomia
Send Ed Daquioag
Coach Norman Black explained it as a move to basically complete his PG depth for today and for the future. It is true that Mike Tolomia is a PG and Ed is more of a wing but if you consider the fact that Newsome and Jared can actually play point, the move looks questionable.
In terms of talent, it is really hard to say which one is better. But, in terms of potential, Mike has a lower ceiling to Ed due to size and athleticism.

I am starting to understand what Rain or Shine is doing. They traded Jeff, a bona-fide shooting guard, for a forward. Then traded a bona-fide point guard for a wing.
They are trying to build a flexible and malleable team. Ed can actually play the point. So, they added a player capable of playing the 1, 2 and 3 position. As said above, Ed has a higher ceiling than Mike.
