2017 Draft Power Ranking 3.0: The Top 12!

The draft pool is set. 44 aspirants put their name on the 2017 PBA Rookie draft that is scheduled in October 29.

Leading the class is a European professional player, Christian Standhardinger. Kiefer Ravena and Jeron Teng are the banner names that put glitters on this pool.

So, who are the best prospects? Here are the top 12!

#12 Jett Manuel (New!)
Potential = 11
Current Skills and Impact = 6

He is the high-character and very intelligent guy that will make the right decisions for his career and development and could possibly turn himself into a star. Manuel can score and could possibly develop the other areas of his game.

#11 Gab Dagangon (New!)
Potential = 10
Current Skills and Impact = 8
He is the hard-nose player in the wing that a winning team always needs. I just hope he finds the motivation to develop the other facets of his game. That could make him a legit starter rather than a depth piece.

#10 Joseph Gabayni (New)
Potential = 11
Current Skills and Impact = 8

The guy is 6'6. You can't teach height. He has shown some glimpses of post touches and his positioning looks good already.

#9 Sidney Onwubere (Previously #12)
Potential = 10
Current Skills and Impact = 9

He is one of the guy that I am planning to check out because I could be missing on someone special. I love his statement about accepting the fact that he will be a role-player in the PBA. With his body-type and his blue-collar mentality, the guy could be a star role-player in the PBA, ala Marc Pingris.

#8 Davon Potts (Previously #8)
Potential = 10
Current Skills and Impact  = 10

Potts is the kind of player that will not make a lot of mistakes in the court and will make the right call and plays to help your team win.

#7 Rey Nambatac (Previously #7)
Potential = 11
Current Skills and Impact  = 10

Here is another stat-filling guard that a lot of teams are craving for. He is 5'11 who is currently producing 16.6 points, 8.3 rebounds and 3.0 assists in the NCAA. The combination of shooting, rebounding and playmaking could actually make Nambatac as the best player of this class.

#6  Raymar Jose (Previously #9)
Potential = 10
Current Skills and Impact  = 11

In the PBA, quality bigmen is hard to find. Jose is an undersized frontliner that always double-down on effort in playing against taller guys. His experience in the ABL could be the best preparation of Jose for the PBA.

#5 Jason Perkins (Previously #11)
Potential = 11
Current Skills and Impact  = 111

It seems like Perkins has chosen to be an undersize power forward rather than be a flexible forward in the PBA. The guy did not dominate in the D-League but he put his name into the MVP conversation with his 14.3 points, 7.7 rebounds and 1.8 assists per game.

#4 Robbie Herndon (New!)
Potential = 12
Current Skills and Impact = 11

In almost every draft, you have this Filipino-Foreigner that you almost never heard about that will be the steal of the draft. Introducing Herndon. The guy is crazy athletic. The guy is super explosive. Making him a rare-breed in the PBA.

#3 Kiefer Ravena (Previously #4)
Potential = 13
Current Skills and Impact  = 12

Kiefer Ravena is the scoring-wiz of this draft. His youth and his "superstar" potential is legit but his defense is still a work in progress. I expect him to contribute at least 20 points per 36 minutes of play, right away but he could be inefficient.

#2 Jeron Teng (Previously #6)
Potential = 14
Current Skills and Impact  = 12

Don't sleep on Teng. His "buwaya" demeanor turn off a lot of you but in reality, the guy is just a fearless slasher. Not only that, he has turn himself into a very flexible player and a stat-filling monster. In the D-League, he averaged 22.2 points, 6.9 rebounds and 5.8 assists.

#1 Christian Standhardinger (Previously #1)
Current Skills and Impact = 15
Potential = 14

Other than his hard-to-pronounce surname, Christian has one irk remaining. He signed with an Asean Basketball League team which could mean that he could miss the entirety of the elimination round of the All-Filipino Cup. Nonetheless, he is the best pick this year.
