2017 PBA Draft Quick Analysis - #6 to #12 Picks - Star, Phoenix and Globalport drafted elite-upside prospects
#6 Robbie Herndon - GBP
He is the best talent available. Herndon is very physical, strong and athletic that he should be able to play small-ball four. With him, Globalport can further play faster and dynamic but there is also the chance that he may not get enough opportunity to develop.
#7 Rey Nambatac - ROS
Coach Caloy Garcia has a problem. His guard rotation now is Ahanmisi-Cruz-Tiu-Daquioag-Nambatac. How can he balance trying to compete and develop the young guns of that rotation? Nambatac is a prototype of Scottie Thompson but could be a better shooter.
#8 Sidney Onwubere - PHX
I love this pick for the Fuel Masters. He can play SG, SF and PF. He is a blue collar worker who can defend almost all position. Fuel Masters badly needs that because only Jeff Chan is the capable defender in the wing of Phoenix.
By the way, you heard this first from PBA Talks. Sydney Onwubere could be the best player from this draft.
#9 Lervin Flores - STAR
Kudos to Star for making this pick. Flores is so jumpy and explosive that he could be a threat on both ends of the court. For them to get a quality big man prospect with the #9 pick is a steal already.
#10 Mark Tallo - TNT
I think, they went for a guard because Jayson Castro's career as the point guard of our national team is not yet over. Tallo is small but he can defend and make plays.
#11 Jonjon Gabriel - TNT
Gabriel is basically a low upside prospect but at least he is a big man. He can protect the rim but he do need to learn how to help them on offense.
#12 Jett Manuel - BGSM
Manuel is the scorer that the bench of Ginebra is looking for. If he learns the ins and outs of the triangle, the guy could be the hair-apparent to Mark Caguioa.
