Joe Lipa presented himself to the media to explain their decision of trading the #1 pick. It was a very simple reason. They want to play positionless basketball, anchored around outside shooting.
They said they want to play an unconvential type of basketball. Basically, he is saying that he wants to follow the new trade.
Okay. Okay.
I have high respect for Joe Lipa. But man, that is laughable!
Why? Because there is a big hole to his explanation! Jay-R Reyes, Jeith Agovida, Rashawn McCarthy, Yancy De Ocampo and Matt Ganuelas-Rosser are not above average shooters! So please, don't give me that explanation.
Maybe, that is really the plan at the end of the day but why are you trading for non-shooters if you can target guys like Aldrech Ramos and Justin Melton on Star. Two bench players who can really shoot.
How about Raul Soyud and Jonas Villanueva of NLEX?
And lastly, why would they just trade down to the #3 and #12 pick of Phoenix? The draft has a lot of shooters like Potts, Ravena, Herndon and even Jeron Teng who can play PG, SG and SF!
In the end, the explanation is just laughable. But at least, we now know that they do know that the PBA universe is already vomiting them away.
