The career of the Beast is going through another rough path. We saw him left their game against Blackwater last Friday, even though he was more than ready to play.
When asked about it, coach Alex Compton cleared the air. "Alaska’s always been family first, I will never get in the way of somebody taking care of something important with their family."
In short, Calvin Abueva is tackling some family issues that even led him to miss practices. He missed four straight practices already, but coach Alex was just fine with it.
That speaks a lot about the severity of the problem that he is facing. If you are the coach of a professional basketball team, there is no way you are letting any player missed four straight practices without any repercussions, unless the problem is really that serious.
So, what kind of issue could that be?
I researched for it and found that it could be related to a medical issue of one of his children. The child could be suffering a life-threatening illness that is forcing Calvin to attend to him/her as soon and as much as possible.
That is acceptable, but that is not the kind of issues that you keep secret from the media. It is just mind-boggling why they are coating the reason of his absences into this "family issue" thing.
The kind of family-issues that you do not want to divulge to the public are marriage-related. And with what happened to the marriage of Gary David, the player who always kiss his tattoo of his wife's face, that is always a possibility.
Overall, let us just hope that everything will work out fine for the family of the Beast.
