After their practice yesterday, coach Caloy told Spin.ph that he talked to his players about it and the players denied the rumor.
This was the crucial statement of coach Caloy. "It’s part of the job, kung meron mang ganun (trade demands). Pero according to them naman, wala naman silang sinasabi.. sa harap ng lahat. Yung iba nga, pinagtawanan na lang eh, parang ginagawan lang ng issue."
A Philstar article contradicted that. According to the article, Jericho Cruz was already on the trade block and the franchise is just waiting for the right trade.
Inside that piece, agent Danny Espiritu said that Jericho Cruz already informed coach Caloy about his desire.
And the management was willing to let him go for the right price.
Factuality Meter ( How true it is): 75%
Even though coach Caloy denied it, I think the trade demand is real. The performance of Jericho is a good indicator of that. And the fact that we are not hearing his side, denying it and showing support to coach Caloy, strengthen my belief.
And if I am Rain or Shine, there is no point in standing pat and retaining a disgruntled guard. Their guard rotation is very deep that exchanging Cruz for a pick may not even be felt.
Jericho Cruz is only 27 years old and his 16.4 points, 5.3 rebounds, 3.5 assists, 45% FG and 32.3% 3FG per 36 production speaks highly about his value.
A team that lacks a starting quality guard should be more than willing to give up a 1st for him.
