2018 Post Phil. Cup Trade Targets: Ginebra, Blackwater, Kia

The 2018 Commissioner's Cup is scheduled to begin in April 22, 2018. So, the 10 eliminated teams still have enough time to improve their roster. So, who are the players that each team should try to get?

Let us see.

Brgy. Ginebra San Miguel - A 1st Round Pick
In a sense, I am already resting my case about the shooting need of Ginebra. Coach Tim Cone masterfully assembled an efficient outside shooting squad, with the lowest number of three-point attempts.

To succeed, they made sure that their free-throw shooting was elite. Their defense will force turnovers and they will control the rebound.

I think, their roster and their style can win a crown. Although, the San Miguel series showed us that the most vital thing for them is to find the right import.

Now, trading one of their key veterans for a 1st round pick could be a great addition-by-subtraction move. I am talking about Sol Mercado and Mark Caguioa.

Blackwater Elite - A Very Good Bigman
I am enjoying watching the Elite grow as a team. They have one of the most promising young core in the league. And with the way JP Erram is playing, all the other eleven teams should look out.

Beside Erram, Raymar Jose is looking reliable. Although, I don't think he can be a long-term starter for a long-term contender. Unless he finds a way to overcome his size and strength disadvantage.

So, another reliable big is a must. In the PBA today, if you want to contend, you need to have at least two of the top 25 frontliners in the league.

Raymond Almazan is the dream catch of the Elite. A very risky move that that Elite should consider is to put their 2018 1st on the table for Almazan.

Rain or Shine will have a hard time refusing that, specially now that they are bound to have a top 4 pick.

In return, Blackwater will have a frontline that can challenge even the upcoming Standhardinger-Fajardo of the Beermen.

Kia Picanto - A bigman
Kia did played an unconventional rotation during the Philippine Cup. If you want to consider providing a low amount of playing time for legit bigman as a basketball system, that is your decision already.

Eric Camson was basically the most legit big in their main rotation and he was only playing 18.9 minutes.

There are a lot of back-up bigs out there that they may try to acquire.

But, why should they do that if they do not have any chance of getting the championship?

For them to get more rebounds, better picks and a feel of having a player that can score in the post. Those are also important in providing experience to some of their promising players.
