A new era in TNT has arrived. I don't know what to call it, but the successful white-collar era of the Castro-RDO led TNT is now officially over.
Leading TNT to a new era is the well-beloved and also well-hated, Terrence Romeo.
Yesterday, the Commissioner's office finally approved the trade between TNT and Globalport. Globalport will send Yousef Taha and Terrence Romeo for Moala Tautuaa, 2020 TNT 1st round pick and 2021 2nd round pick.
Terrence has been well appreciated and well scrutinized in his time in Globalport. Individually, he was racking up points and other type of stats, but the Batang Pier has failed to be successful under his leadership.
With his departure, he will leave a pretty big "what if" in my mind. What could have been the result of a Romeo-Pringle led Globalport team if they have found a modern coach? Someone who will follow the footsteps of coach Mike D'Antoni. Can that team even be stop?
On the other hand, Moala Tautuaa entered the league as hype as June Mar Fajardo. He was supposed to be an unstoppable behemoth. Unfortunately, the coaches in TNT never run their team around him. Instead, he was used to helped Castro run the team.
It did not help his cause that Troy Rosario was perfect fit with the dribble drive.
Now, he will need to answer the question, can he even achieved half of the hype?
If one of the Globalport coaches are listening. I hope they watch the pick-and-roll play of Jayson Castro and Moala. It was unstoppable.
With the trade, Globalport is also entering a new era. An era led-by Stanley Pringle. An era led by The Beard of the PBA.
Oh, wait. Didn't we just saw The Beard of the NBA succeed, with a team run through him?
Will we see the same in the PBA?
Overall, the PBA landscape have changed today. I am hoping both teams will succeed. I am hoping this transaction will usher us into a more exciting era of the PBA.
