The 3rd Window of the 2018 FIBA World Cup Asian Qualifier is an opportunity for the Philippines to show their supremacy over other Asian nations.
A win will formalize the entry of the Philippines to the next round.
Leading them are their big three of Jayson Castro, Andray Blatche and June Mar Fajardo. In their frontline, they also have Japeth Aguilar and Troy Rosario.
At the wing position, Gabe Norwood, Matthew Wright, Allein Maliksi and Calvin Abueva will try to stand firm.
And on the backcourt, the ball will be handled by Terrence Romeo, Roger Pogoy and Jio Jalalon.
Out of those twelve warriors, my eyes will be focusing on Calvin Abueva.
The guy is battling some personal troubles that already affected his profession. Even with those troubles, Calvin showed up and catch-up with the national team.
He wants to represent the country. No. He wants to represent Filipinos in playing basketball.
And when he does that, all of us love him. He is the embodiment of Filipino basketball.
Grind, hustle and heart.
Coach Chot is not planning to give him long playing time. But, he knows that The Beast is one of those guys that can change the tide of a game even in just 60 seconds!
One more guy that deserves our attention is June Mar Fajardo. Fajardo was a monster in our first meeting against Chinese Taipei. He tallied 17 points, 8 rebounds and 2 blocks!
With that, Chinese Taipei will be prepared for him tonight. How will The Kraken handle a game plan against him in the International game?
If he can do well again, every Filipino should be happy because that is a sign that the Kraken is getting comfortable with Asian basketball.
Overall, the Beast and the Kraken could be the key players in our game tonight.
