If you are a Ginebra fan, you should be breathing pretty well today because your favorite team managed to take 4 Ws out of their last four games.
With that accomplishment, they are now 5-5 and tied for the 6th place. Here is the bad news though. There is still a chance that they fail to qualify for the playoffs.
If they lost to Globalport and get tied with Phoenix for the 8th seed, they will need to defeat the Fuel Masters for the 8th spot.
Now, even if they reached the playoffs, do not expect them to compete for the championships. In short, I am telling you that Ginebra will not win the 2018 Com. Cup championship!
Why?

#1 Justin Brownlee is just an average import
To be honest, I could still be overrating his production. He is averaging 24.7 points, 13.2 rebounds, 6.5 assists, 1.3 steals, 1.2 blocks, 43% FG, 19% 3FG and 4.7 turnovers per game. His numbers are pretty high but as you can see, his efficiency is awful.
Add his 4.7 turnovers per game and you have a player who is playing like "Buwaya" in the court. Brownlee's three-point shooting is vital for Ginebra and with the way he is shooting, I expect it to fail him in the playoffs.
Just to be clear, I am not saying that Brownlee is a bad import. He will surely be a top 3 reinforcement in the 2018 Governors' Cup.
#2 Jeff Chan
The need to insert Jeff Chan to their scheme will be a big hindrance to the title aspiration of Ginebra this conference.
Ginebra doesn't have a sniper in their line-up before. So, the arrival of Chan means adjusting their system. Getting the feel of having a teammate that is roaming and running around the three-point line to take three-point shots will take time for Scottie Thompson, Justin Brownlee, Japeth Aguilar and Greg Slaughter.
Those two reasons will be hard to overcome when battling powerhouse squads and superfluid teams. I will be shocked if they are one of the two surviving franchises in the Finals.
Then prepare to be shocked!
