I am pretty sure you are already familiar with Jeff Chan. How about Julian Sargent? The other wingman that Ginebra acquired, recently.
Sargent is the gritty and stay-on-your-face defender that coaches love. On the offensive end, Julian hasn't shown any standout skill.
And coach Tim kinda agree. In an interview with Spin.ph, he expressed that they plan to use him in a Gabe Norwood / Matt Roser role. Multi-position defenders who can handle the ball on the offensive end.
That could be a good indicator that one of Aljon Mariano, Kevin Ferrer or Sol Mercado will be on the trading block, soon.
Sol has the biggest role out of the three but his age and his injury concerns can be the reasons that they let him go.
Ferrer's potential is still there which they can use to net a good return, like a 1st round pick or maybe a good young point guard.
Mariano has the lowest playing time out of the three. Aljon is only playing 8.4 minutes this conference and his outside shot remains non-existent.
Having a lot of wings is a good problem to have but with that kind of depth, Sargent may not get enough playing time to improve. If coach Tim really aspires to mold Julian into a Norwood-type of stopper, he needs to create playing time for him.
