San Miguel trading for Kelly Nabong was a big question mark to a lot of PBA fans. Maybe, they are just making small improvements to help them lockdown a grandslam.
But, I know that at the back of our minds, we are anticipating a bigger move on the horizon. And according to some untrusted sources, they are targeting Calvin Abueva.
One of the recent rumors that we talked about was the availability of The Beast. And San Miguel has a surplus of bigs that Alaska needs.
According to the buzzes, Christian Standhardinger could be the guy that San Miguel will use to get The Beast into the SMC fold.
Why will SMB do it? I think coach Leo Austria is realizing that he cannot play Christian and Junemar for long stretches. That is due to the fact that both are post-scorers.
Playing the two together will really hurt their spacing, providing leaner driving and playmaking lanes for their guards.
It will also be a great marketing move for the franchise. Calvin Abueva is one of the most polarizing Filipino baller today.
For Alaska, they badly need a center today and for their future. Christian also fits the mold that they want. He is a blue-collar guy who will not attract media attention.
SMBeermen in my own opinion doesn't need Abueva in their line up. They have a solid line up, that can dominate the league for the next 3-5 years. I'm sure they can develop rookies to be the next ACab or Spidey. #Believe
