Now, we also need to provide a distinction to the players that make him speechless. One of them is the 25 years-old Scottie Thompson.
Not only can Scottie make coach Tim speechless, he also received an extravagant comment from coach Tim. Coach Tim told the media that his timing is otherworldly.
Now, how amazing is that? Coach Tim Cone is not only a coach. He is a super-basketball fan. He watched a lot of games. If he calls someone otherworldly in basketball, you believe him.
In their semifinals series against Rain or Shine, Scottie filled up the statsheet. He averaged 8 points, 8.3 rebounds, 4.3 assists and 1.5 steals per game.
Maybe, that is not enough to wow you, but that was enough for Ginebra. They do not need a player who will shoot 20 shots to score 20 points. They need a player to do the small things and control the aspects of the game.
Now, the rebounding of Scottie will be tested against the big and brutish frontline of San Miguel. San Miguel does not only have tall players but they are also physical and strong. Can Scottie still average more than 8 boards against them?
For each rebound that he will win against the bigmen of the Beermen, I expect the Ginebra fateful to be their, waiting to rejoice and cheer for him.
If he can do that consistently in this series, we could be witnessing the official rise of the new King for Ginebra.
After old age turned Mark Caguioa to a literal spark off-the-bench, Ginebra has been missing a face. In the last three years, it is debatable that Justin Brownlee took over the reigns.
Now, a young Filipino could be ready to take over.
