In game 1, the great start of Brgy. Ginebra San Miguel helped them repel any comeback from Rain or Shine Elasto Painters. It helped a lot that Greg Slaughter was fantastic inside.
What can Rain or Shine do to tie the series? Let us see.
KEY FACTORS
Raymond Almazan
Assists
Bench Scoring
The Dark Night was a no-show in game 1. He only managed 0 point, 3 rebounds, 2 assists and 1 block in 13 minutes of play. With the size of Ginebra, they need Almazan to be better.
The assists number told the story of game 1. Ginebra tallied 30 dimes while Rain or Shine was limited to 19. What made the ball movement of Ginebra incredible was the presence of a lot of playmakers. They have five players with 4 or more assists under their names.
The explosion of Jeff Chan helped them counter the bench-scoring of Rain or Shine. Jeff recorded 21 points with his six three-pointers.
PREDICTION
I expect a much closer match than game 1. Coach Caloy should use James Yap more as a decoy and let the others take more shots.
I expect Almazan to have a better game and the difference in the bench will be exposed.
So, I see Rain or Shine getting their first W in this series.
