One of the biggest question surrounding the Gilas-Australia brawl was, where will Philippine Basketball Association stand?
One statement after the meeting of the PBA executives and the Gilas players reveal it. Commissioner Willie Marcial said "Depende kung ano ang desisyon ng Fiba. Kung suspension hanggang sa Fiba, susundin namin. Kung suspension hanggang PBA, aapila kami."
In short, they will try to make sure that the nine local players involved will continue to play in the PBA but they do expect a suspension from FIBA.
So, can you imagine the PBA without RR Pogoy, Terrence Romeo, Jayson Castro, Troy Rosario, Calvin Abueva, Matthew Wright, Japeth Aguilar, Carl Bryan Cruz, and Allein Maliksi?
That could be the impact of what they did in that FIBA World Cup Qualification game.
It was not shocking that the PBA is backing the players because losing those nine players will surely have an effect on the attractiveness of the league.
The results of the FIBA investigation is expected to come out after a month. Which means the nine players can comfortably play for their mother clubs in the duration of the PBA playoffs.
