Stanley Pringle's 50 points performance against Columbian Dyip could open the gates for more out-of-this-world scoring extravaganza.
Pringle was only the 15th player to accomplish that, which is an amazing feat because the league is more than 40 years old already!
So, who are the five best candidates that can become the 16th local player to reach that scoring milestone?
Paul Lee
A lot of people are sleeping on Paul Lee. His scoring moves are not that tantalizing so it is easy to forget about him. But the guy can score in a lot of ways. He is one of the most efficient three-point shooter off-the-dribble.
This conference, he is producing 15.6 points in 43% from beyond the arc! If he learns to play better off-the-ball, expect Lee's scoring production to increase.
Vic Manuel
Who is the best scoring local this conference? The Muscle Man, Vic Manuel. He is averaging 23.8 points per game in 57% shooting. The most amazing thing about it was the fact that he is producing that in just 22.2 minutes of play!
If you convert it to 36 minutes of play, you will get 38.6 points! Just imagine if coach Alex Compton provides him more minutes? There is a big chance that he will start scratching the 40 points level and maybe one day, meet the 50 points mark.
Terrence Romeo
Even with the 50 points explosion of Stanley, I think Romeo is still the most explosive scorer in the league. His ability to create good looks for himself is really on a different level. The problem now is, Romeo is playing in a system that limits his playing time to around 30 minutes per game.
Romeo is struggling in this conference but what can we expect? He is playing with a new team and in a very democratic scheme.
Junemar Fajardo
Remember the days that The Kraken was unstoppable in the playoffs? Actually, he recorded 42 points in the 2018 PBA All-Filipino Cup Finals. Fajardo is truly unstoppable. I can bet that he may have scored 50 or more points already if he is not in the super loaded San Miguel team.
By playing in a dominant franchise, we also expect Fajardo to play a lot of games per season. Which means more opportunity to accomplish the milestone.
Bobby Ray Parks Jr.
Parks will enter the league through the upcoming rookie draft. He is known more as an all-around player but to say that he is not capable of scoring 50 points is laughable. His tools, from his athleticism to his handles, is in a very different level.
We also expect Parks to land in a weak team like Columbian and Blackwater. That will provide him a great opportunity to manufacture 50 points or more.
