Is "The Beast" still appropriate for Calvin Abueva? Maybe, we need to replace his monicker with Mr. Suspension.
With FIBA giving him a 6-games suspension, we may not see Calvin play a real game, anytime soon.
San Miguel Beermen dominated Alaska Aces in the semifinals and we did not even receive any indication that Alaska will lift his suspension.
And in one of the most recent posts of one of our legit sources, it seems like Calvin will have a new team soon.
And that will only happen through a trade. We already floated some teams in the past. I am willing to bet that it will be an SMC team but I don't know which one.
I think the biggest indication that Calvin has played his last game with the white-and-red franchise was his no-show in the semifinals.
Even though Calvin is not 100% in terms of conditioning and he hasn't played with them for a while, they should have given him at least a game in the semifinals.
Calvin can impact games without scoring. His energy, hustle, and nose for the ball can still turn the tides of a game.
It seems like the franchise is already preparing for his departure as they proved that they can succeed without him.
