One of the constant thing in the basketball world today is increased of usage of the three-point shot. According to analytics, three-pointer is the most efficient shot in basketball.
When you shoot 33.3% from beyond the arc, that is equivalent to 50% shooting inside the arc. So, 4 out of 12 may look like a bad shooting night but that is actually equivalent to 6/12 in the two-point line.
Add the fact that attempts from beyond the arc provide space to teammates and you will further appreciate the importance of it.
Now, it is common to see guards and wings throwing long bombs. So, it makes sense that bigmen who can shoot are more valuable and coveted.
There is one guy, who is one of the projected 2018 draft hopefuls, who is attempting it like crazy. He is Andre Paras.
Yes, the forgotten brother of Kobe Paras.
Andre rose to fame last year with his gritty rebounding. And that will show in his statline in the 2018 PBA D-League Foundation Cup of 14.2 points and 8.5 rebounds per game.
That looks fine already but the most intriguing part of his game is his 30% shooting from beyond the arc. Andre is attempting 8.8 threes per game which is very high already for a player.
In the 2018 Commissioner's Cup, the highest rate was 8.2 by Matthew Wright. The highest attempt-rate by a power-forward was the 7.0 of Arwind Santos.
The next primary power forward in the lists was Eric Camson with his 4.7 per game.
What set Andre apart? He is already attempting more shots than them. Which is scary, right?
As Andre keep shooting, I expect him to improve. Is he the guy that PBA is waiting for to fully commit to the three-point shooting craze?
We have a lot of good playmaking guards. Putting Paras as their pick-and-roll partner can create destruction in another level.
Santos attempts a lot of threes but he is inefficient. Andre is already attempting a lot and he has all the time to improve his efficiency.

Bobby Ray Parks is almost assured to end up as the best of the 2018 draft but Andre Paras could turn out to be the most impactful.
