The three conference-format of the Philippine Basketball Association provides three images for each player.
Do not trust a single image, because one of the other images may provide a different look.
Just like these five players who regressed from their 2018 Philippine Cup production in 2018 Commissioner's Cup.
#5 Calvin Abueva
If we count the fact that he went awol, Abueva may need to be higher on this list. Even if we do not consider it, his 10.4 points, 9.4 rebounds, 2.8 assists, 32%FG and 18% 3FG is still a far cry from his production in the Philippine Cup. Add the fact that his 3.4 turnovers per game was the fifth highest for a local player and Calvin may have hurt Alaska more than help them.
#4 JP Erram
Erram was a revelation in the Philippine Cup. He was basically fighting for the #2 best center in the league with his 14.2 points, 13.8 rebounds and 3.0 blocks per game. But in this conference, where he faced behemoth imports, he can only manufacture 10.7 points, 8.3 rebounds and 1.3 blocks.
#3 Chris Ross
Ross was not fantastic in the Philippine Cup. He averaged 11.7 points, 5.9 rebounds, 6.6 assists in 38% FG and 18% 3FG per game. In the 2018 Com. Cup, he became a negative. He only tallied 6.5 points, 4.5 rebounds, 4.6 assists, 27% FG and 15% 3FG. That kind of efficiency made him a liability on the offensive end.
#2 Greg Slaughter
This conference provided us with a good measurement of the distance between the plays of Greg Slaughter and Junemar Fajardo. The Kraken stayed a monster. Greg was humanized. Greg produced 10.2 points, 8.7 rebounds, 2.3 turnovers and 40% FG per game. And I hope Ginebra fans do not realize that Vic Manuel, who is much smaller, more than doubled his scoring production.
#1 Mac Belo
Belo is becoming a forgotten young stud in the PBA. In the Philippine Cup, he showcases improvements with his 15.8 points, 6.1 rebounds, 1.7 assists and 1.6 steals per game. In this conference, he was an afterthought because of his 7.7 points, 2.6 rebounds and 2.0 turnovers statline.
