Are you one of those fans that only look at the number of points that a player recorded and nothing else?
Are you one of those fans who doesn't care if it took a player 15 misses just to get to 20 points?
It is time for you to open your eyes to the importance of efficiency.
So, who are the five most inefficient players in the league last season?
Don Trollano
Trollano was one of the defensive specialists of the TNT franchise. And it seems like he should really be just that and avoid trying to attempt any shot. He shot 40% or worse in all the three conferences. Don connected in 26% of his attempts in the Philippine Cup. Maybe, they should just tell him to pass the ball?
Jay Washington
It seems like father time is winning the battle against Jay Washington. Last season, the former MVP candidate was unplayable. Washington shot 34% or worse in each conference.
His performance could be related to his injuries. Nevertheless, if he cannot increase that by next season, retirement may not be far away from the former #1 pick of the 2005 draft.
Allein Maliksi
When Blackwater acquired him from the Purefood franchise, he was supposed to be their main scoring weapon. He did average double-digits in points in each conference.
But to reach those double-digits, he attempted more than 9 shots and did not hit better than 37% in the three conferences. So I think last season just proved that Maliksi is not capable as the main scoring threat of a PBA team.
RR Garcia
I will not be shocked if you are not sure which team Garcia is playing for today. That is the result of being traded every year. I think, one of the reasons why he was traded a lot was his inconsistency.
He shot 38% or worse in each conference. You will be more devastated by his accuracy from beyond the arc. His best conference was 25%!
JP Erram
Erram is one of the top centers in the league. He grabs a lot of rebounds, he blocks a lot of shots and his presence alone deter a lot of drives to the basket. His scoring though is still a work-in-progress. He did average double-digits in points in each conference but his efficiency was always below 50%
For a gigantic center, that is unacceptable. Knowing that almost all his shots were just around the basket, he should at least connect on 50% of his attempts.
