Meralco may not be making star-studded trades but they will be a very different team in this season because of the several small trades that they made.
Meralco - Phoenix
Meralco received John Pinto
Phoenix received Jason Ballesteros and 2020 2nd round pick
Meralco - Northport
Meralco received 2020 2nd round pick
Northport received Garvo Lanete
I think both trades are obviously fair. Pinto has proven last season that he is a starting caliber point guard. So, getting a legit center and a 2nd round pick is just fine. Garvo failed to show the star potential that he was hype for when he entered the league last season. He was not playing like a starting guard, so a 2nd round pick is just fine.
TEAM GRADE
Northport Batang Pier
Behind Stanley Pringle, the guard rotation of Northport is pretty shaky (I consider Bolick as more of a wingman at this point). Nico Elorde, Ryan Arana and Paolo Taha is not good enough and really lacks ceiling.
Garvo is already 29 years old but maybe with more usage, he can summon the elite scorer inside of him. For the price of a 2nd rounder, this is a good addition for the present and a good bet for the future.

Phoenix Fuel Masters
For Phoenix, the real price of Jason Ballesteros and a 2020 2nd round pick is Joseph Eriobu because they traded Eriobu last week to get John Pinto. Thus, this is an amazing deal for Phoenix! Eriobu has good potential but with the depth of Phoenix in the forward position, he may never get the opportunity this season and in the foreseeable future.
Thus, grabbing a legit center and a 2nd rounder for him is a steal of a transaction.

Meralco Bolts
In terms of value, the Phoenix 2020 2nd and the Meralco 2020 2nd are just equal. So, Meralco traded John Pinto for Jason Ballesteros and Garvo Lanete.
I do not see a clear point if we are talking about their current roster. Where will they get the playing time of Pinto? Lanete averaged less than 10 minutes in the Governors Cup because of the depth of their guard rotation.
Then they even drafted Trevis Jackson! So, how in their wildest dream can they keep their guard rotation happy?
I do not think Meralco will stop transacting from here. But in terms of their current roster, this is a pathetic trade.
