The Top 10 PBA Free-Agents - Start of 2019 Phil. Cup Edition

The 44th season of the Philippine Basketball Association begun yesterday! All the line-ups of the twelve teams were already passed so we now have the list of free agents.

Some of the guys that are not on the official rosters are signed as practice players but that doesn't mean the other teams cannot steal them.

I also included in the list some players who are playing in the amateur leagues because PBA teams can still sign them through an agreement with their current amateur squad.

So, who are the top 10 free-agents that your favorite team should consider if they suffer an injury?

Fonzo Gotladera

Gotladera is on the list primarily because of his height and size. He is a legit 6'5 and he is still young at 26. If your team is looking for a young big to develop, how about this guy?

Chito Jaime
Jaime is dominating in the MPBL. He was the first player to break into the 500 points mark of the league. Jaime is not only a scorer but a gritty competitor.

Dylan Ababou
Ababou never found a home franchise that is willing to be with him in his ups and downs. Nonetheless, he is a proven PBA scorer and has a legitimate wing size.

Felix Apreku
Apreku is another MPBL standout that your team may want to try. He is currently leading Mr. Manny Pacquiao's league in terms of double-double.

Mac Baracael
Injuries and defensive issues may have doomed Baracael from having a more-than-a-year contract in the PBA. But if your team is in need of a forward who can hit from the outside, Baracael should be your guy.

Carlo Lastimosa
There is no doubt that Lastimosa is one of the best available scorers that your favorite team can sign. Although, his defensive breakdowns are really frustrating.

Mark Yee
He is one of the few guys, together with the two above, that is obviously much better than his MPBL peers. His combination of rebounding, defense and timely scoring could be a great boost for any team.

Jay Washington
In terms of accolades and name recognition, Washington is #1. Although, his play in the 2018 season was really underwhelming. Still, you cannot find a 6'7 who can shoot from the outside that often.

Marion Magat
Magat is currently battling for a roster spot in NLEX. As of the writing of this article, he is not yet part of their team. Thus, any other team can change their mind and add him. Coach Yeng revealed that Magat already has a three-point shot which is a premium for a center.

Rabeh Al-Hussaini
Love him or hate him, he is still the most talented and skilled free-agent today. According to reports, he was suspended by Blackwater but he is not part of their line-up so other teams who want to try him can still offer him a contract to play for.
